West Valley (Phoenix)

This rapidly growing area, north and west of the Phoenix valley has everything you’d want for winter fun and enjoyment. Hiking, boating, museums, shopping, a couple of brand new sports arenas and some beautiful scenery are just some of the diverse attractions in the West Valley area.

The statuesque White Tank Mountains are the range you’ll see to the west. To the north, in just a few miles drive, you’ll begin to climb out of the Valley of the Sun into the high desert. Lake Pleasant is a few miles north on I-17, where you can fish and go boating to your heart’s content. Golf, of course, is never far away.
The town of Glendale is known for quaint shops and old west town history. You can even find a museum just about beads and another for dolls. Also in Glendale, the new Arizona Cardinals’ football stadium makes its debut in the fall of 2006 and right next door, a new hockey arena brings in NHL teams to compete with the Phoenix Coyotes.

The Wildlife World Zoo in Litchfield Park is home to 1,400 animals, including Arizona’s first white tiger.
The arts of Phoenix are easily accessible. In the city of Surprise, you can visit the West Valley Art Museum for some of the local artwork.
